Applying Fixes

Select a media file on the timeline and then click the Fix/Enhance button to apply instant fixes, such as lighting adjustments, lens correction, video/audio denoise, video stabilization, and more. In the Fix section, the following options are available:

Note: the options that are available is dependent on the type of media file you have selected.

Lighting Adjustment

Adjusts the brightness/contrast/saturation ratios. Best used to change the color settings if the video clip or photo contains portions that are overly dark or bright. Use the slider to adjust the intensity of the lighting adjustment. Enable the Extreme Backlight option to adjust the back lighting in a clip. Best used to provide separation between a subject and the background, or reduce the silhouette effect caused by too much backlight, for example from the sun. Once enabled, use the slider to adjust the intensity of the backlight.

White Balance

The Color temperature option adjusts the clip's color temperature or creates a specific atmosphere, such as winter or summer. Once enabled, use the slider to adjust the Color temperature in the media clip. A lower value applies a colder temperature, while a higher value applies an atmosphere that is warmer. Use the Tint slider to adjust the color level of the clip.

Select the White calibration option, and then click the button to use the eye dropper to select an area in the video or image that should be white. By indicating which portion of an image should be white, CyberLink PowerDirector automatically adjusts the other colors accordingly to be more vivid and true. If you use white calibration, you cannot use other fixes or enhancements.

Video Stabilizer

Employs motion compensation technology to correct shaking videos. This tool is ideal for use with videos taken without a tripod or recorded while moving. Once enabled, drag the slider to increase or decrease the level of correction. Select the Fix rotational camera shake* option if the clip has segments where the camera rotates from side to side. The Use enhanced stabilizer option improves the output quality of video clips that have video stabilizer applied.

Note: * optional feature in CyberLink PowerDirector. Check the version table on our web site for detailed versioning information.

If editing a 360° project, you can apply CyberLink VR Stabilizer on 360° video clips. Use the Sliding Window Duration to set the intervals (in seconds) when CyberLink VR Stabilizer analyzes and corrects the shakiness of the video. Use the Spatial Domain Range to set the analyzed range (up and down) from the central horizon line of the screen. Adjusting the sliders will auto apply CyberLink VR Stabilizer on your video clip. If required, click the Advanced button to manually apply VR Stabilizer in the Enhanced VR Stabilizer window.

Lens Correction

Select the Lens Correction* option to use lens profiles to auto correct distorted images/videos. Select the lens profile, using the Maker and Model drop-downs, that matches the camera your image/video was shot with. Once selected, CyberLink PowerDirector will auto correct the image/video.

Note: if you can't find your camera's lens profile, click the button to download more from DirectorZone. Once downloaded, click the button to import it into CyberLink PowerDirector. * optional feature in CyberLink PowerDirector. Check the version table on our web site for detailed versioning information.

You can also use the Fisheye distortion control to manually correct clips that have fisheye distortion. Use the Vignette Removal sliders to manually remove an unwanted vignette effect on photos that was caused by a camera lens or the lighting environment:

Vignette amount: use this slider to adjust the level of vignette removal on the photo.

Vignette midpoint: drag the slider to the left to increase the size of the area (towards the center of the photo) where the vignette removal is applied. Drag it right to decrease the size, towards the corners.

Video Denoise

This tool removes video noise from a video clip, including High-ISO and TV signal noise. Once enabled, drag the slider to increase or decrease the level of denoise on the video.

Audio Denoise

Use audio denoise on video clips that were recorded outdoors, in a room with poor acoustics, in a car, or other noisy locations. The audio denoise tool uses CLNR (CyberLink Noise Reduction) technology to improve your video's audio quality and reduce background noise. Select the Noise type from the drop-down menu and then use the Degree slider to adjust the amount of denoise applied.

Remove Red-eye

When enabled, CyberLink PowerDirector will detect the faces in the selected image and remove red-eye automatically.

Apply Re-focus

Enhances images that are out of focus. Drag the slider to increase or decrease the degree of enhancement.

3D Orientation

If your 3D media was shot with a camera that uses a plug in lens to create the 3D effect, the resulting media may not display correctly if the lens angles are slightly off. Use the sliders to adjust the horizontal and vertical orientation of the two images to fix the 3D effect on the media.

Enhancing Media Clips

Select a media file on the timeline and then click the Fix/Enhance button to enhance the media by adjusting its color, applying edge enhancement or the HDR effect, and much more. In the Enhance section, the following options are available:

Note: the options that are available is dependent on the type of media file you have selected.

Edge Enhancement

Gives standard definition videos the look and feel of true high definition, through the use of CyberLink's TrueTheater HD intelligent resolution up scaling. Once enabled, drag the slider to increase or decrease the degree of enhancement on the video.

Color Adjustment

Lets you manually adjust the color attributes (exposure, brightness, contrast, hue, etc.) of the video image or a photo. Once enabled, you cannot use other fixes or enhancements. Use the sliders to adjust the attributes as follows:

Exposure: use on media clips that are over or underexposed. A lower value darkens all the colors in the clip, while a higher value lightens them.

Brightness: use to increase or decrease the brightness of the media clip's image.

Contrast: use to adjust contrast, or the difference between light and dark areas of the media clip.

Hue: use to fine tune the shade or purity of the colors in the media clip.

Saturation: use to adjust the saturation of the colors in a media clip. A smaller value moves the colors towards black and white, while a higher value increases the overall intensity of color in the clip.

Vibrancy: use to make the colors in a media clip brighter and more vivid, by enhancing the duller colors.

Highlight healing: is applied to areas of media clips that are overexposed to recover detail in the highlights and brighter areas.

Shadow: use to enhance detail in dark sections of the media clip by lightening shadows and underexposed areas.

Sharpness: use the slider to adjust the amount of sharpness applied to the media clip.

Color Enhancement

Color Enhancement dynamically adjusts the color saturation ratio in video. Use the available slider to make the colors in the video more vivid, without affecting skin tones.

Color Match

The Color Match feature lets you change the color in a selected video or image, by matching it to another clip in your project. To use Color Match, do this:

Note: you can only match the color in one clip at a time.

1.Select two clips on the timeline and then click the Color Match button. Or select one clip, click Fix/Enhance, and then the Color Match option and button to enter the Color Match panel.

2.If you haven't yet done so, select the reference media clip on the timeline. The reference clip contains the colors you want matched in the target clip.
