CyberLink PowerDirector Help

When modifying media clips in the PiP Designer be sure to set its anchor point first (if required) and use the mode selection and zoom tools for assistance during editing.

Note: when modifying media clips in the PiP Designer, use the player controls to preview, and click to preview the effect at full screen. You can also click to hide the keyframe timeline for a larger view of the preview window.

Media Clip Anchor Points

The anchor point on a media clip in the PiP Designer can be enabled in Object Settings, and is where all the fixed effects in a clip work from. For example, clips rotate around their anchor point.

By default the anchor point is in the middle of the media clip, at the X 0.500, Y 0.500 position. You can click and drag the anchor point to a new position on the media clip, changing its point of rotation, scaling, etc.

For scaling, the anchor point is the position on which zooms focus in on. Changing the anchor point, changes the zoom in focus.

And it is also the position from which the media scales up from.

Move the anchor point on a media clip to change how the edits you make to its properties in the PiP Designer affect the clip.

Mode Selection

In the PiP Designer there are two selection modes. Click the button to enable the media clip selection. When selected, you can freely click and move the media clip to different areas of the video frame.

Note: when moving and resizing media clips, it will snap to reference lines (if enabled) and the editing canvas' edges/middle.

Click the button to enable a mode that lets you drag the view in the PiP Designer. This mode is especially helpful when applying PiP motion effects to media that start off screen or when zoomed in on the preview window.

Zoom Tools

Use the zoom tools and to zoom out and in on the preview window when modifying media clips. You can also select the viewer zoom amount from the drop-down to set the size of the media clip preview. Select Fit to resize the media clip so that is fits in the PiP Designer's viewer window.

Note: you can also hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and then use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in or out on the media clip.
